The creation of 3DMG

PERIOD 791 AHR
INVENTOR Margaret Evermoore

History

Inventor Margaret Evermoore was an inventor celebrated for her ingenuity who developed the groundbreaking 'Three-Dimensional Moving Gear' (3DMG). Motivated by the need for humanity to fight against the Titans outside Wall Maria, Margaret observed animal mobility, using her observations to develop a glove that could propel wires using iceburst stone. Eventually, she would innovate further and develop the 3DMG that is used widely by the military today. Her invention, a fusion of inventive brilliance and practicality, not only addressed the perilous challenge that Titans posed, but also propelled Humanity into new realms of exploration outside the Walls.

The Discovery of Iceburst Stone

As the Stationary Guard settled into patrolling the unvisited villages in the plain valleys of Wall Maria, many stayed patrolling on top of The Walls, seeking out for what may approach them. Patrolling The Walls was a task that many Stationary Guard members found as ‘laid-back’. Though one mysterious little girl would change this belief…

On top of the Interior Gate of the District of Holst, many carts entered the District with food for civilians suffering from starvation. A little girl, whose identification is still unknown to this day, ran through the gate as it opened, chasing a dove into the valley. Private First Class, Jin Golden-Lion, noticed the little girl wandering off and immediately climbed down from the gate. As he informed his companions who were managing the cargo coming through, he continued to chase after the girl into the plain valley. Not long after, he lost sight of the girl. Jin contemplated going back to his position at the Interior Gate, though had heard a little girl's scream deep within a cavern in front of him.

Hoping it was the little girl he pursued, he rushed into the cavern informing whoever screamed that help was on its way. As he continued to run deep within the cavern, he noticed glimmers within the sides of the cavern’s walls, though he ignored them as he continued onwards for the little girl. He carried on into the cavern and was stunned by a shining light within the depths of the cavern. As he opened his eyes, shining blue stones covered the walls of the cavern. As he came closer to the stone, the glimmer would begin to shine brighter. He had completely forgotten about the little girl, though when he resumed going deeper into the cavern, it seemed as though it never ended. Little did he know that he had made a revolutionary discovery.

Returning back to his post, he informed his fellow members of the discovery about the peculiar glimmering stones. As his fellow companions experienced the same shunning from the glimmering stones, they were amazed by the form and numbers of it within the cavern. As they reported the finding of the cavern to their Higher Ups, the discovery of these glimmering stones would pique interest in Researchers within the Districts. It wouldn’t be until many centuries later, however, that the glimmering stones’ potential would be fully uncovered. Coined iceburst stone, this stone would later be used in fueling the revolutionary Three-Dimensional Moving Gear. History would remember these stones for their great scientific uses, however the fate of the young girl still remains a mystery.

Invention of 3dmg

With the notable brain and intellect of Inventor Margaret Evermoore, the evolution of mobility would soon peak. Many struggled with taking down the enormous giants, as curiosity continued to fuel Humanity, wanting to go deeper within the depths of the valleys beyond Wall Maria. Inventor Margaret took this obstacle at hand into her own, spending countless days trying to figure out how to control motion while being in the air. Margaret was very well known and honored for her past inventions that had advanced Humanity as a whole even at a young age. It brought ease to the public that Inventor Margaret was hard at work with something that would counter-attack the enormous giants stopping Humanity from farthing forward into the unknown.

Margaret began closely observing animal mobility and how they navigate in comparison to humans. These were one of many of Inventor Margaret’s abnormal ways of coming up with her unique inventions that have changed Humanity for the best. By watching animals swing from vines to navigate the lush forests inside The Walls, Inventor Margaret was inspired by this specific mobility and began working on her soon to be groundbreaking invention. She created a glove that, through the combustion of iceburst stone, would propel a wire in any direction. These fired wires could then be connected to her body, and the momentum associated with the “hooking” could be used to move freely in the air. With this basis and rough draft of her soon to be evolution of mobility, many prototypes were made, as well as many forms of orbiting maneuvers.

Though, with Inventor Margaret Evermoore sticking to some aspects of her first prototype such as the wire reeling and iceburst gas, she finally hit the mark with her 'Three-Dimensional Moving Gear'. Inventor Margaret's Three-Dimensional Moving Gear allowed for full orbit around whatever the hook had struck into, which would be darted by a single pull of a trigger. Alongside this full motion and mobility, came a combative aspect of the Three-Dimensional Moving Gear that Inventor Margaret had incorporated, this being the two blades on the side. Inventor Margaret thought of many ways of incorporating a combative weapon with the maneuvering gear and decided to add the set of blades. These blades weren’t made from any ordinary material, but iron bamboo that could easily slice through flesh. With the addition of blades, this allowed for potential killing of the enormous giants that stopped Humanity's curiosity with venturing into the depths of the valleys, possible. Though, after this remarkable invention, many wicked groups of individuals sought out for her whereabouts in order to advance their own arsenal. Inventor Margaret Evermoore feared for her life when informed of potential harm coming her way. All traces of Inventor Margaret’s whereabouts disappeared and are still undiscovered. As many wonder, where could she have gone to…?

Present Day

Today, 3DMG has become a common tool within the military's arsenal. In the year 830, the same year as the Breach of Wall Maria, 3DMG became standard issue for all members of the military. The Breach marked a paradigm shift in public sentiment as the population increasingly rallied behind the idea of utilizing 3DMG as a means to counter the Titan threats beyond the Walls and to hopefully one day reclaim Wall Maria.

The widespread adoption of 3DMG instigated a profound impact on various facets of society, particularly in the realm of weapons manufacturing. The demand for these cutting-edge devices surged exponentially as the military sought to equip its forces to defeat the insurmountable challenges they were, and continue to be faced with. The surge in weapons production was not merely a response to military needs but also a reflection of the prevailing public determination to confront and defeat the Titans threatening the safety of the remaining populace. The collective will to reconquer Wall Maria and push back the encroaching Titan menace fueled a significant expansion in the arms industry, exemplifying the relationship between technological innovation, military strategy, and societal determination.
